As Brook Street Social Care celebrates its 30th anniversary, we reflect back on three decades of matching the best candidates to the best roles in social care.
Since our start in 1993, we have placed over 20,000 fantastic people in meaningful roles. Many of our candidates are with us for the long haul. In this interview, Justin Cuddy, who was recently awarded one of our Long Service Awards, gives us an insight into what it’s been like working with us for two out of our three decades.
Hi Justin, congratulations on receiving the Brook Street Social Care Long Service Award! You’ve been with us for an amazing 20 years, first with the Preston branch and now with our Cardiff branch. What has been the highlight of working with Brook Street over these past 20 years?
The highlight has been meeting so many wonderful and interesting people and being able to visit beautiful places and engage in exciting activities, whilst being paid to do it.
A lot has happened in 20 years − what is the thing that has changed the most in the time you have worked with us?
One thing that hasn't changed is the fantastic support given by the Brook Street Social Care consultants!
The biggest change is technology regarding our placements. At one point, timesheets were paper forms that had to be signed by a placement manager, then either faxed, sent by mail or personally delivered. This had a deadline which on occasion became quite stressful. With online up-loading, this has become hassle-free.
With two decades of experience, what advice would you give to someone starting out with Brook Street Social Care today?
Try to hit the ground running and work your socks off! There's always something that can be done to help the service you've been assigned to run smoothly.
Any specific plans for the future?
As for the future, to be happy.
Thank you Justin, and congratulations once again on your 20-year Long Service Award. Here’s to the next 20!
